A Modest Proposal for BRASS

Why do we have divisions in BRASS?

"Every league has divisions, Mark. It's how it's done."

True. In America, that is.

Why not go to a single table in BRASS ala European soccer leagues? We already play a completely balanced schedule. To wit: everyone in the league plays their divisional opponents only 22 games total. That is a paltry amount to declare a "division champ" from.

Therefore, I think we should just meld the honest simplicity of our schedule with one table and seed the playoffs accordingly- across all of BRASS.

That's an interesting thought, Mark. Though, I like the unbalanced idea:

Other league: 12 x 3 = 36
In division: 3 x 18 = 54
Other in league: 8 x 9 = 72.

For the fun of it, if we had enough agree, one league could have DH and the other not.

Like Other Side, I'd rather unbalance the schedule than abolish divisions. Having one DH and one non-DH league is a bad idea, though. I'm in a league which did that for many years, and what we found was that the non-DH league had a consistent advantage over the DH league in interleague/World Series play. The reason for this was that the non-DH teams, having one less regular position to fill, could concentrate more of their resources on acquiring pitching. Eventually we used the DH in both leagues, and that's how it's run to this day.

By the way, I wish everyone would quit bashing Mike Cameron. I've got him in that league. . . :)

steve...we've voted on an unbalanced sked in the past in BRASS and failed. I wonder how open to changing the schedule V is???

I'd have no probs with an unbalanced sked- at least then divisions would mean something in BRASS.

That said...the Challengers just took 2 of 3 on the road from the Hitmen and are 6 or 8 games over 500 (I forget) and fighting for a playoff spot. I have no idea how this club is in this position. My pitching is pretty atrocious.
